Energy Signature Analytics Web App
The Energy Signature Analytics Web App is an R Shiny-based platform that empowers building owners and managers with insights into their building's energy consumption patterns. Through sophisticated analysis of electricity and natural gas utility bill data, the app provides an array of metrics such as Electric Base Load, Gas Base Load, Heating and Cooling Load Slopes, and Heating and Cooling Balance Points. Visualizations like color-coded base load charts and scatter plots for raw energy data, as well as tabular metric summaries, enable users to make informed decisions for optimizing energy use.
In this exploratory data analysis project, I created a dynamic Power BI dashboard that slices and visualizes COVID-19 data scraped from John Hopkins University's GitHub repository. The dashboard features a myriad of interactive visuals including treemaps, timelapses, rolling 7-day charts, and more, enabling me to flexibly analyze the pandemic's trends. The dashboard, once embedded on a website, offered others an alternative avenue to engage with COVID-19 data.

Journey into Mobile Development: My First Android App
Embarking on an exciting foray into mobile application development, I plunged into learning Kotlin and the Android SDK to craft my first Android phone app. With no prior experience in app development, this venture epitomized self-learning and tenacity. Although the app is still in the testing phase, it has been effectively demonstrated and serves as a testament to my adaptability in embracing new technologies, especially Kotlin.
The app is tailored to offer users statistical information for managers in one of my Fantasy Football leagues. It kicks off with a splash page showcasing an image during the loading process. The home screen, set against a dark grey background, features a light blue title and two buttons - "Regular Season Stats" and "Playoff Stats." Tapping a button leads to a new screen with a dropdown list of names; selecting a name unveils the manager's stats, which are pulled from an imported file. Despite its simplicity, the app is intuitive and user-friendly, and lays a solid foundation for future app development.
This endeavor underscores my proactive stance in adopting and mastering new technologies. Through self-education in Kotlin and the Android SDK, I breathed life into an idea and constructed a functional mobile app from the ground up, reaffirming my dedication to skill expansion and tackling new challenges.
Innovative Fantasy Football App:
From Excel Prototype to Web Platform
In another innovative endeavor, I combined my passion for Fantasy Football with a deep dive into data scraping and analysis. I began by creating an intricate prototype in Excel using VBA and Macros. The essence of this project is to allow users to draft football players from various eras and construct Fantasy Football teams, which can then compete against one another using historical data.
The foundation of this app involved a meticulous data scraping process from Pro Football Reference to acquire an extensive list of player statistics. I subsequently refined this data, applying Fantasy Football scoring settings, and synthesized summary datasets. The Excel prototype is packed with several tabs, each serving a distinct purpose, ranging from drafting players to viewing matchup outcomes and league standings.
To ensure this brainchild reached its full potential, I decided to evolve the prototype into an interactive web application. The transition from Excel to a web-based platform demands different technologies, and I am currently exploring options such as Python with Django or Flask for backend development and React or Angular for the frontend. The web application will need user account capabilities and a robust database to store historical data and user information.
This project reflects my resourcefulness and my capability to wield diverse tools - from Excel, VBA, and Macros to potentially employing modern web development technologies. It exemplifies my dedication to constantly expanding my horizons and crafting innovative solutions that blend entertainment with data-driven insights.
